Amiable slackers Bill and Ted are once again roped into a fantastical adventure when De Nomolos, a villain from the future, sends evil robot duplicates of the two lads to terminate and replace them. The robot doubles actually succeed in killing Bill and Ted, but the two are determined to escape the afterlife, challenging the Grim Reaper to a series of games in order to return to the land of the living.

What kind of time-travel story is this?
Time travel supports the story or a substantial sequence.
Meets the archive’s time-travel criteria. The mechanism is classified as Mechanical.
Why the archive makes this assessment (spoilers)
Time travel launches the robot plot and helps resolve it, while the afterlife quest occupies most of the story.
The time-travel phone booth is used in the sequel alongside its afterlife adventure.
Titan combines the archive’s quality, audience and legacy base with the significance of time travel. It is an index, not a score out of 100, and is distinct from the FMV archive’s scoring model.
Partial inputs flag incomplete source metadata. Provisional weighting flags a time-travel assessment that remains uncertain; it receives no additional confidence penalty.
