What kind of time-travel story is this?

Time travel is an important premise, with limited sustained exploration.

Meets the archive’s time-travel criteria. The mechanism is classified as Enchanted.

Why the archive makes this assessment (spoilers)

To prove Sarah did not kill her stepfather, she and Mark use a compass found at Sir Wilfred's house that opens gateways across time and space, and most of the film is their hop through those worlds: Baron von Frankenstein's laboratory, a long medieval sword-and-sorcery episode, a Victorian London and other horror-movie settings. Leaping between eras fills the running time, as in Time Bandits, but each stop is a pastiche of a horror film rather than real history, sources describe the gateways as dimensions as much as times, and nothing in one era affects another. That keeps it at 6.

A magical compass opens portals through time and fantasy dimensions.

How Titan works

Titan combines the archive’s quality, audience and legacy base with the significance of time travel. It is an index, not a score out of 100, and is distinct from the FMV archive’s scoring model.

Titan = base × [0.20 + 0.80 × (time-travel score ÷ 10)²]

This film: 49.79 base × 48.8% weighting.

Partial inputs flag incomplete source metadata. Provisional weighting flags a time-travel assessment that remains uncertain; it receives no additional confidence penalty.
