Titan score

FMV
Titans

The heavy hitters of full-motion video. Every game gets one score out of 100 from how critics received it, how much of it is video, the mark it left on the wider culture, and how many platforms it reached.

How the score works

Quality, 40%
The critic score of the game's best-reviewed version, so a weak port doesn't drag the game down, weighed by how many reviews stand behind it. Games nobody reviewed get the median score in the index and are marked estimated, so an unreviewed Japan-only disc counts as average, not bad.
Culture, 40%
A rating out of 10 for the footprint the game left beyond its release: controversy, sales, a famous cast, memes, remakes, lasting references. Each comes with a reason and sources. Unrated games get 0.
Reach, 20%
How many platforms it came out on: systems in the index, plus a 32X CD version, plus a modern re-release. One platform scores 0, two 33, four 67, eight or more 100.
FMV amount, multiplier
A Titan has to be an FMV game, so the other three are multiplied by the amount of video: an all-video game keeps its whole score, a cutscenes-only game keeps about half.

titan = (0.4 × quality + 0.4 × culture + 0.2 × reach) × (0.4 + 0.6 × FMV ÷ 10)
